Summary: This is an excellent pre workout supplement from Jim Stoppani
What Does JYM PRE JYM Do?
Figure headed by Jim Stoppani, JYM PRE JYM is a potent and professionally formulated pre-workout supplement based around common concepts like cell volumization, enhanced energy production, and the activation of protein synthesis.
It should be noted from the outset that this product contains a whopping 300mg of caffeine anhydrous per serving so if, like me, if you’re used to drinking a strong cup of coffee before training and you’d rather continue to do so then this might not be the best choice for you.
Having said that, there are some tried and tested ingredients in Pre JYM like Beta Alanine, BCAA, and Citrulline Malate, so it certainly is worth considering if you want a boost before hitting the gym.
What’s in JYM PRE JYM?
Instead of being blindly won over by words like Amplifier (!) and Matrix (!) let’s take a closer look at exactly which ingredients you’re going to be getting in Pre JYM:
- Power / Strength & Endurance Matrix, containing:
- Creatine Hydrochloride;
- CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine;
- N-Acetyl L-Cysteine; and
- AlphaSize® Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline
- Maximal Pump / Vascularity & Energy Amplifier, containing:
- Citrulline Malate; and
- Beet Extract
- Fatigue-Fighting Anabolic Activator, containing:
- L-Isoleucine; and
- Focus & Drive Intensifier, containing:
- Caffeine Anhydrous (300mg); and
- Huperzine A
- BioPerine (to enhance absorption)
How and When Do I Take It?
As per the manufacturer’s directions you are advised to take one scoop of Pre JYM in around 14oz of water around 30 – 45 minutes prior to your workouts.
It is highly advisable that you begin by using a half dose so that you can assess your tolerance; remember that one serving of Pre JYM contains 300mg of caffeine which is equal to around three strong cups of coffee.
Once you’ve assessed your tolerance and are comfortable with this level of caffeine intake then you may proceed to take a full scoop before training.
What are the Benefits?
Creatine is perhaps one of the most extensively researched sports supplements of all time, and its ability to increase strength output while enhancing the uptake of fluid into the muscle cells equates to a one-two punch of anabolic potential.
Combining this with a pump enhancer like Citrulline Malate is sure to provide you with some skin-splitting pumps as well as obscene amounts of vascularity that will likely raise a few eyebrows at your gym!
One of the most beneficial ingredients in Pre JYM is its Fatigue-Fighting Anabolic Activator.
This BCAA compound is formulated in the optimal ratio to provide you with 3g of leucine which is the exact amount required in most adults to illicit protein synthesis and protect your muscles from catabolism as you tear into them during set after grueling set of brutality in the weight room.
As mentioned above, caffeine is also included to give you a mental edge and prime your nervous system for the punishment you’re about to unleash.
What’s more, the inclusion of BioPerine, an extract of black pepper, helps to enhance the absorption and efficacy of all of the above ingredients.
Are there Any Precautions?
Further to the recommendations given above regarding tolerance assessment due to the caffeine content of Pre JYM, ensure that you speak to your doctor or physician prior to use if you suffer from any pre-existing medical conditions or if you are taking any medications.
If you’re used to drinking a cup of coffee before your workouts then you will most likely have to remove it in place of Pre JYM lest you suffer from anxiety, heart palpitations, and general jitteriness.
What’s more, if you have a particularly intense workout coming up involving, say, high volume leg or back training, then you should exercise caution when using this supplement because of the potential strain placed on your cardiovascular system.
Pre JYM is not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Available Flavors and Serving Sizes

JYM PRE JYM Review
I’ve generally always preferred pre-workout supplements that don’t include caffeine, or that at least do so in modest quantities. For this reason I’ve been turned off of Pre JYM a little because 300mg can be enough to give even the most seasoned coffee drinker like myself a serious case of the jitters!
Ideally in future versions of Pre JYM we’ll see a reduction in the caffeine content; this is a very inexpensive ingredient that users can easily source in pill form or by simply drinking a strong cup of Joe before hitting the weight room.
In addition to this, I’m really not a fan of hype when it comes to bodybuilding supplements because, well, quality products and the results they produce speak for themselves.
Pre JYM includes the ingredient so called Fatigue-Fighting Anabolic Activator which is simply BCAA in a 2:1:1 ratio, so I think it would be a little less disingenuous to simply call it by its proper name so that less informed amongst us know what they’re getting.
With all of the above said, I do actually think that this is a pretty decent product, and one that is well worth using if you’re a beginner-to-intermediate athlete who wants a well rounded pre-workout supplement.
You will definitely, definitely want to test your tolerance with a half serving before going for a full hit because of the caffeine and BioPerine which can work somewhat synergistically.
Other than that, the ingredients in this product are all pretty much well demonstrated to provide significant benefit to training in a variety of ways we’ve discussed above.
It would be nice to see a greater variety of flavors because the Cherry Limeade and Raspberry Lemonade are fairly similar, but it’s understandable that flavorings are fairly limited when it comes to this kind of product.
Furthermore, covering up the obscene taste of BCAA and especially leucine is no easy task, so the flavorings definitely do their job in this respect!
The composition and mixability of Pre JYM are both on par with the biggest brands in the industry, leaving you with an almost crystal clear drink that you’ll find an absolute pleasure to chug down.
If you’re dieting and really suffering from a lack of carbs then a neat trick is to try blending your Pre JYM serving with a bunch of ice and a little water. This will result in a thick slushy treat that will work wonders for satisfying your sugar cravings!
Is it Worth the Money?
Just like with most supplements the cost-effectiveness and relevance is really dependant on the context.
I personally don’t think that Pre JYM is a product that the truly advanced bodybuilder will be particularly interested in using, but those of us who fall into the categories of beginner or intermediate will certainly benefit from it if not already using the ingredients listed.
It’s also good to see that Jim Stoppani himself has put his name on this product and made it clear that there are no proprietary blends or shortcuts taken.
This means that not only are you getting a decent array of functional ingredients, but that you’re also getting them in dosages that are actually going to do something and illicit a response once they enter your bloodstream.
JYM Pre JYM is a little hyped in my opinion, but not nearly as much as many bigger brands who put some frankly ridiculous claims on their products.
If you’re in a position where you’re looking around and researching a variety of pre-workout supplements because you aren’t sure where to invest your money then I’d definitely recommend short-listing Pre JYM.
With its solid list of ingredients, its honest formulation, and the obvious amount of quality with which it has been manufactured, I’d say Pre JYM is well worth checking out whether you’re looking to buy your first ever pre-workout supplement or you just want to change up your current one.
