Transparent Labs RawSeries CoQ10
Transparent Labs is a respected provider of a wide range of nutritional supplements to the weight-training and health-maintenance communities through their PreSeries, CoreSeries, Strength Series, and RawSeries products. Today, we will take a look at their RawSeries CoQ10 supplement and how it can help you meet your health and fitness goals. But first, let’s review what CoQ10 is and why your body needs it.
What is CoQ10 and Why Do I Need It?
Coenzyme Q10, usually abbreviated as CoQ10, is a substance produced by each cell of the body to be used in meeting the cell’s own energy requirements. Since it takes energy to make the compounds that the cell will use to make more energy, CoQ10 plays a very important role in the complicated chemical reactions that allow each cell to function normally.
Inside each cell of the body are tiny structures called mitochondria. Mitochondria have been called “the power houses of the cell” for a very good reason: all the energy a cell uses to perform its functions comes from the mitochondria! The mitochondria are responsible for taking nutrients that have already entered the cell and converting those nutrients into a form that will allow them to give up their energy so that energy will be available to power the cell’s own metabolism.
Each cell is capable of producing its own CoQ10 from raw materials that it takes in from the blood stream. Under most circumstances this production is adequate to meet the cell’s energy demands but, during periods of increased energy demands, the cells find themselves diverting energy away from other purposes to make more CoQ10 so that it can have more energy available. This results in what can be thought of as a “chicken and egg” problem: the cell needs more CoQ10 to make more energy, but to make more CoQ10 takes energy away from some other process! What happens then?
The answer is that the cell doesn’t function at top capacity. If the cells do not function at top capacity then you don’t function at top capacity. If you are involved in a strength training program your body can’t add more muscle tissue if the muscle tissue that you already have isn’t working the way it should. If you have, or are getting over, and illness your body can’t get back to normal as quickly as you might like. We could look at other examples but we would still are at the same conclusion: CoQ10 = more cell energy = better cell function = a healthier, stronger you.
Why Should I Use Transparent Labs RawSeries CoQ10?
You might expect all CoQ10 products to be alike. If you do, you’ll be trying product after product and wondering why you aren’t getting the response that you expect. Are There Other Uses for CoQ10?
Any situation in which the body’s cells are in need of more energy could possibly benefit from a CoQ10 supplement. In fact, it is a proven fact that there are a number of clinical conditions that are known to result in a decrease in CoQ10 production. Theses situations include:
- As an Antioxidant
An antioxidant is a substance that counteracts the effect of substances known as free radicals, which are a byproduct of normal cellular metabolism, from damaging other compounds that are used in cellular processes. CoAQ10 has been shown to have some antioxidant properties but, since CoQ10 is only found within cells, its overall utility as an antioxidant is still being studied.
It has been repeatedly observed in studies on how the body ages that, as we get older, the body’s cells become less efficient in their production of CoQ10. A CoQ10 dose of 100mg once or twice a day will not slow down or reverse the natural aging process but may provide a boost in energy that would allow you to maintain a healthy exercise level.
There is some evidence that hypertension, or high blood pressure, may respond to additional CoQ10 in the diet, particularly when used with prescription anti-hypertension medications. Studies in this are are ongoing at this time.
- Heart Failure / Congestive Heart Failure
It is known that heart failure is associated with lower than normal levels of CoQ10 at the cellular level. Although CoQ10 has been used in combination with herbal preparations for many years to counteract the symptoms of heart failure, scientific evaluation of the role of full role of CoQ10 in this condition is in its early stages.
- Neurologic Diseases
Neurologic diseases, which include such conditions as Alzheimer disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease), and Parkinson’s disease are some of the most debilitating and difficult to care for conditions to challenge modern medicine. Early studies in these conditions are incomplete, but CoQ10 may be of value in treating the muscular weakness that is associated with these and may other neurologic diseases.
