How and When Do I Take It?
As per the manufacturer’s recommendations, you are to take one packet around 30 minutes after your pre-workout meal.
If you are a more advanced athlete or are engaging in particularly intense high-volume training programs then you might also like to consider taking an additional pack after your post-workout meal.
[Author’s Note: As a natural bodybuilder with around 6-7 years of experience, I found this second packet taken post-workout to be a great addition to extremely intense programs like Mountaindog training and Ben Pakulski’s MI40 program.
Both of these are very high-volume, high-frequency, high-intensity programs so if you are using more of a beginner or lower-frequency program like Starting Strength or a 5×5 variant then this probably won’t be necessary.]
Ensure you drink a substantial amount of water with each packet to ensure your body is able to assimilate and utilize the vitamins and minerals, many of which are water-soluble.
What are the Benefits?
The benefits of a comprehensive multivitamin supplement like this are numerous.
The vitamins and minerals ensure optimal nerve function and muscle cell hydration, enabling you to retain your explosive strength from one workout to the next while also keeping your muscles fuller for longer in between workouts.
Ingredients such as chromium and alpha lipoic acid are also glucose disposal agents or GDA, which helps to sensitize your body to the affects of insulin so that the food, and in particular the carbohydrates you eat are more efficiently shuttled to your muscle cells for growth and recovery rather than to your fat cells for storage.
Whether due to budgetary restrictions or geographical availability of certain protein sources, it can sometimes be difficult to consistently consume a variety of meat, eggs, and dairy, so the amino acid complex will help to ensure you are filling in any gaps in your blood amino pool. Furthermore, Animal Pak contains BCAA including Leucine which is instrumental in initiating protein synthesis in the body.
The Performance Complex provides a variety of hormonal and liver support, which is especially important for testosterone production in men and optimal liver health in those of you who might be taking other ‘supplements’ in oral form.
Finally, we all know how beneficial antioxidants and digestive enzymes can be, especially when we consider the amount of stress that is placed on the body by a grueling training routine.
Protein-digesting enzymes like Bromelain and Papain will ensure that your body is fully equipped to absorb a greater amount of the nutrients you consume.
Remember, you aren’t what you eat; you are what you absorb, so optimal digestive health is essential for any aspiring bodybuilder!
Are there Any Precautions?
Breastfeeding and pregnant women should consult with their doctor or physician before using this product, and those of you who suffer from underlying medical conditions or are taking any medications should also speak to a doctor before using Animal Pak.
Again, take this product with a lot of water or you will literally end up flushing your money down the toilet!
Available Flavors and Serving Sizes
Animal Pak comes in individually-wrapped packs containing a handful of pills varying in shape and size.
Because of this there are no flavors available; however, the pills are generally quite non-intrusive so those of us who are well accustomed to taking plenty of supplements should have no problem taking them all with a single mouthful.
Animal Pak is available in the following serving sizes:
- 15 packs
- 44 packs
This isn’t the cheapest multivitamin on the market so the 15-pack container should give you a chance to try it out for yourself before investing in a larger order.
I have been a huge advocate of Animal Pak for quite a while now so I jumped at the chance to write a review for it.
The quality of this supplement is undeniable; there is every chance that the majority of us truly hard-training bodybuilders are likely to develop a few nutritional deficiencies along the way, and I for one can definitely vouch for being able to ‘feel’ the benefits of Animal Pak within a few days of taking it.
Is it Worth the Money?
As one of the most expensive multivitamin supplements on the market, it might be hard to justify buying Animal Pak as a staple if you’re already shelling out for protein powder, fish oil, creatine, and so on, but believe me when I say it will be money well invested.
I often say that if you’re serious about your training then you definitely should make the investment in high-quality supplements, and this statement rings no truer than for a top-of-the-line product like Animal Pak.
So is Animal Pak worth the money? Definitely!
Aside from a great tasting protein powder, Universal Nutrition Animal Pak is almost definitely my favorite bodybuilding supplement.
This is one of the only multivitamins that I would say truly is a bodybuilding supplement because of the way it has clearly been formulated especially for the purpose.
What’s more, with an Arnold Classic competitor like Evan Centopani as one of Universal Nutrition’s athlete, you can clearly see that they have their standards set very high when it comes to who is endorsing their products.
I really like Universal Nutrition supplements and I absolutely love Animal Pak so I would definitely recommend it very strongly.
